Sweden's Illwill were a one-album supergroup comprised of guitar player Andy LaRocque (King Diamond, Death, EF Band), bassist Sharlee d'Angelo (Witchery, Arch Enemy, Mercyful Fate, Dismember, etc.), drummer Snowy Shaw (Mercyful Fate, Memento Mori, King Diamond, Notre Dame, Dream Evil), and, at long last, a congenator unknown in vocalizer Yonas Af Dahlstrøm. Together, the tetrad collaborated on 1999's Evilution album, featuring an aggressive blend of Pantera's guitar chunk and proficient thrash metallic element, but on the face of it LaRocque, d'Angelo, Shaw, and Dahlstrøm have no future plans to work under the Illwill soubriquet in the future.

The Promotion

The Promotion
 Stars Seann William Scott
 Director Steven Conrad
** (out of five)

I wanted to like this movie. Its concept is solid: Two losers duke it out over a promotion from assistant manager to manager of a Chicago grocery store chain only losers work at.

Its got a winning cast: Seann William Scott and John C. Reilly costar; Jenna Fischer and Lili Taylor play their wives; Fred Armisen, Gil Bellows and Jason Bateman play mealy corporate types.

Even more promising, its the directorial debut of Steven Conrad, who wrote The Weather Man (Nicolas Cages finest film in eons) and The Pursuit Of Happyness, movies that put a human face on the working stiff.

So how did Conrad turn this surefire indie hit into an unsure mess?

For starters, Reillys character has just moved down from Quebec, but I dare you to find anything Canadian about him.

Taylor is, for no good reason, playing someone from Scotland. Want to hear Taylor do a distracting Scottish accent? Me neither.

But what really kills this comedy of one-upmanship is Conrads downer need to put a human face on everything. Scotts character wants to buy his saintly wife a house.

Reilly wants to prove to his wife he wont relapse into addiction. Motivations this blandly sympathetic file all the edges off the film.

And whenever someone starts to do something outrageous like tell a lie or rat out another character Conrad cheats us out of the consequences by having them change their minds or be forgiven.

The pacing is unforgivably slack. Scenes linger while characters just stare at each other. Running jokes never get off the ground.

Reilly has a few good moments, like tap dancing alone in the frozen food aisle.
Scott just looks uncomfortable, and so does everyone else.

Glastonbury headliners revealed

Jay Z, Kings of Leon and The Verve have been announced as this year's Glastonbury headliners.
Following months of speculation, in which Radiohead, Bruce Springsteen and Led Zeppelin were rumoured to play on the Pyramid stage, the headliners were finally disclosed yesterday.
Kings of Leon will headline on Friday night; Jay Z on Saturday; and The Verve will close the festival on Sunday evening.
Other acts also confirmed to play are CSS, Neil Diamond and Hot Chip. The Guardian is also reporting that Leonard Cohen will perform on stage for the first time in 14 years.
Of the headliners, organiser Emily Eavis said: "We're absolutely thrilled to have them. The Verve are a classic Glastonbury band who've played some amazing sets at the festival over the years. Now that they're back together again, playing brilliant shows, we've finally got them doing the headline slot that they always deserved. I can't wait."
She continued: "Jay-Z is coming all the way over from New York especially to play the festival. It's a real coup for us. He might seem like a slightly unusual choice for Glastonbury, but we've never just gone for the obvious acts and we're so honoured to have one of the most talented and respected musicians on the planet coming to the farm. He's an amazing artist and an incredible live act. I think he's going to blow people away."
She added: "That leaves Kings of Leon. They've come through the ranks at Glastonbury since they rocked the New Bands Tent in 2003. We think they're one of the most exciting live bands out there right now and that they're ready to make the leap to join a great heritage of Friday night headliners which includes Coldplay and White Stripes."
The full line-up for the Festival will be announced in June with the three-day event taking place from 27 to 29 June.
Fans who want one of the 137,500 tickets on offer must provide contact details and a passport photo in order to receive a registration number.
The number does not guarantee entry to the festival at Worthy Farm in Pilton, however fans will not be able to buy a ticket without one.
They have until Friday 14 March to register their interest via the festival's website. Tickets will then go on sale on Sunday 6 April.

The music of the Andes Mountains comes to living through and through the playing of La Paz, Bolivia-based fivesome Rumillajta (marked roomy-yaktee). Combining original songs and traditional tunes, the radical bring a modern sensibility to the music, tattle close to such contemporary issues as alien debt and the predicament of Bolivia's miners. While the musical traditions of Bolivia continue the cornerstone of their sound, the band has incorporated medicine from passim the Andes Mountain region. Rumillajta, whose name comes from the Quecha word for "ruins of pit," are known for their groundbreaking harmonies, plentiful instrumentation, and rhythmic complexness. Most of the group's instruments are reinforced by lead quena (Andean flute) player and composer Adrian Villanueva. Prior to forming Rumillajta, Villanueva performed with such Bolivian groups as los Trovodores de Bolivia. The isthmus is rounded out by charango participant and composer Juan Jorge Laura, lead isaac Bashevis Singer and zampona (pan pipes) participant Nestor Tintaya; guitarist, composer, adapter, and background knowledge singer Juan Carlos Cordero, and zampona player and percussionist Max Cordero Ponce.

Radiohead - Radiohead Slam Emi

RADIOHEAD have hit out at their former record company EMI, angry they can't stop the label from releasing an album of their greatest hits.

EMI bosses took the decision after the band walked away from their contract to release their last album In Rainbows through new label XL Recordings.

Frontman Thom Yorke is annoyed he will have no control over the EMI album - and dismisses it as pointless. He says, "We haven't really had any hits so what exactly is the purpose (of the greatest hits album)?

"There's nothing we can do about it. The work is really public property now anyway, in my head at least. It's a wasted opportunity in that if we'd been behind it, and we wanted to do it, then it might have been good".

He also accuses EMI boss Guy Hands of lying to the press - by claiming Radiohead quit the label because it refused the band's demands for $20 million (GBP10 million). He tells Word magazine, "The idea that we were after so much money (is) stretching the truth to breaking point. That was his PR company briefing against us. I was so angry. It was a clear indication that the relationship was over".
